抄録

We reported that the DLC coatings always significantly led to a reduction in static friction. In this study, the static friction coefficient of DLC, F-DLC, and Si-DLC coating was measured by a ball-on-disk method. The relationship between the wettability and friction was investigated. The results of static friction coefficient showed that the friction under wet condition was influenced by the surface wettability. Each DLC coating was considered to have sufficient durability for use as the orthodontic appliances by the results of scratch tests. F-DLC coating was effective for the orthodontic appliances tested in the present study.
