抄録
The wake behind the pan head of a pantograph is a major source of aerodynamic noise generated by the Shinkansen bullet train running at high speed. In the present study, we propose to apply a plasma actuator to reduce this aerodynamic noise through suppression of vortex shedding. First, we perform a parametric study to identify the parameter set under which the induced velocity is maximized. Subsequently, we measure the flow around a circular and a square cylinders by means of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). In the case of circular cylinder, the maximum effect is obtained when the plasma actuators are installed at 90 ° from the stagnation point. In the case of square cylinder, configurations aiming at direct suppression of separation are found to be more effective than those aiming at disturbing the flow.
