Abstract
I think that fairness can be divided into two types. One is the fundamental legal fairness which is taken in rules or Jaws and must be kept by everybody. The other is the fine ethical fairness which ought to be kept. To keep latter fairness is very difficult, so we may be forgiven to break it. In this treatise I have picked up the latter fairness mainly. The ethical fine fairness has the character to keep higher equality between competitors or fighters, which is not taken in rules and is usually disregarded, for it is difficult to keep. And it has the character of great beauty and of pureness. In fighting usually we want to protect our own, but sometimes noble pure man keeps the fine fairness for his enemy. Why do we occasionally keep the fine fairness which is very difficult to keep? Because we have pride for our own strongness, then we must fight strongly, purely and finely, not cowardly. Also we have the spirit of respect and love for enemies who arc the same respectable as friends.
