Abstract

This paper reports NLS Syllabus System and the operation. The system is a main CMS platform used in Nagoya University Law School. We have developed the system based on the design concepts of Going Syllabus, as a previous work, developed by Center for the Studies of Higher Education, Nagoya University. In addition to the basic functions, our system has some additional functions required by teaching staffs of the law school. Especially, this paper also shows our proposed instruction using the voting subsystem built in our system. The aim of the subsystem is that students contact thoughts and representations of the other students and improve their thinking and writing skills by peer-reviewing many reports submitted through the Web interfaces and by voting on the reports. Furthermore, a new function called "e-mail-like BBS"is introduced into NLS Syllabus System. This function allows students and teachers to exchange their messages one-on-one through the BBS. In some cases, using the BBS is more convenient than e-mail. According to the reports from the staffs, the key point to introduce and operate the system is the organized utilization based on FD and close coordination of teaching staffs.
