Abstract

In this article, we sort out some ideas about the understanding of mathematics in the teaching and learning processes of school mathematics. At first, we have reviewed some confusions in that processes and various previous studies that considers the kind of understanding. However, when thinking the understanding that processes of mathematics is constructed in the school, it is necessary to grasp understanding more practically, we think. Firstly, we analyzed teacher's "Understanding that processes" by using questionnaire, and classified the understanding object. And, we recognized that the following three aspects of understanding were important to construct the understanding that processes through the research on teaching: to clarify the understanding object, to devise making the object understood and to confirm students' understanding mathematics using clear and simple method.
