抄録

This paper analyzed the Chinese consumers' awareness and the Chinese government's reaction towards food safety issues after the milk powder incident that happened in 2008. In this research, the survey was carried out before and after the milk powder issue happened the consumers' awareness on food safety, especially milk safety was focused on. According to literature, the Chinese government's response towards food safety problems was mainly examined through the previous studies. Meanwhile, in this research, the change of policies of the Chinese government and policies comparison between China and other countries is also studied. In conclusion, after the milk powder incident, consumers were doubting about food safety, and the consumption of milk was decreasing. However, the Chinese governments improved the food safety act and other constitutions to ensure food safety in China.
