Abstract

The goal of this Research is to improve the preservice education by early childhood, elementary and middle-school teachers through the development of multimedia technology. We have already developed the multimedia materials in WWW format and have used them for several practicum. The WWW includes lesson records and video segments of lessons taught in actual classrooms by teachers or preservice teachers, interviews with the preservice teachers regarding their planning and teaching of the lessons, scanned images of student s activity, various examples of teachers'lesson plans, lists of related literature and BBS for discussion. However, it was difficult to make preservice teachers deep viewing and understanding of their educational practice. We found that it was very important for us to have system design concepts on case-based instruction theory. So based on the assumption that learning to teach is most effective when situated in a realistic context, first we examine and analyze various examples of case-based multimedia materials for preservice teachers. Second discuss implication for using case-based instruction theory to design materials. Last suggest new design concepts of case-based network multimedia materials.
