配偶者や交際相手といった親密なパートナーからの暴力(IPV)の被害は現象の兆しが見えず、また、一旦関係から逃れてもかなりの被害者はパートナーの元に戻るという状況がある。そこで、本稿では、IPV関係を終結するか継続するかの決定に関する研究について、その個別要因の研究と決定プロセスのモデル研究に分けて概観した。個別要因については、被害者要因、加害者要因、カップル要因に分けて国外の研究を概観するとともに日本の研究についても探った。決定プロセスのモデル研究では、国外の主要な概観研究で検討されている6つの代表的なモデルを取り上げその特徴と違いを明らかにした。これらの研究はほとんどが国外のもので、日本においては殆ど知見が蓄積されていないことが判明した。

Intimate Partner Violence is the widely spread social issue in Japan and its victimization ratio has not been decreased yet to date. Many victims are also observed to return to abusers even after they once separated from them. In this article, the researches on victimized women's decisions to stay or leave violent relationships were reviewed from individual factors prospective as well as from the explanatory model for such decision. The individual factors studied in overseas researches were categorized by victim factors,abuser factors and couple factors,and summary of Japanese researches were also added. The 6 representative models for stay/leave decision process that were discussed by the major overseas review articles were reviewed and characteristics of those models were highlighted. Those researches were mostly conducted in overseas and it is noted that there are hardly any researches conducted in Japan for this topic.
