本報では, 中高年主婦の勤労観について, 緒言に記したような仮説を立て, 調査を試みた。その結果を要約すれば次の通りである。1) 中高年主婦の勤労観は, 本調査による限りでは, NHKの全年齢層を含む調査結果や, 著者らが行った女子青年層の調査結果と比較してみると, 女子青年層よりも意欲的で積極的な姿勢がみられたが, NHK調査の結果には及ばなかった。また, NHK調査の結果よりも自己実現志向型が多く, この点は女子青年層に近かった。さらに, 勤勉型も多かったが, NHK調査の結果にみられる程ではなく, かなり批判的な姿勢がみられた。2) 中高年主婦の中では, 中年主婦が高年主婦よりも意欲的で, また, 自己実現志向型が多かった。3) 同じく中高年主婦の中では, 有職者の方が無職者よりも意欲的で, 勤労を客観的に捉えているものが多かった。以上のように, この研究は, あくまで大都市圏にある二地区を選んでの事例研究に過ぎないが, この調査によって, ある程度, 中高年主婦の勤労観の特徴や傾向をつかむことができた。また, 仮説は一応検証できたと考えている。今後さらに, 中高年男女の勤労観の比較や, 老年男女の勤労観とその比較などについて研究を進め, 中高年主婦の勤労観についての特徴をさらに明白にしたいと考えている。

The present authors studied the views of women students on numerous aspects of working, and Shiobara and Sakai followed the same study on the views of men students. This paper, on the contrary, presents the views of higher and middle aged housewives (ranging from 30 to 50 years old) on the working, and our main findings are as follows : 1. Views on working expressd by higher and middle aged housewives can be characterized as the one which is between views of two different groups; namely, average views of all generation (NHK study) and the views of young women (study of the present authors). 2. Group of higher aged women (older than 45) has, to some extent, different views from that by middle aged (younger than 45). 3.
