Folk ritual “Kagura” is the nucleus of Japanese folk ritual tradition, which is one of the ethnic arts people have expressed in their life. We often observe white cloths in folk rituals or folk ritual “Kagura”. By investigating and analyzing many examples of the white cloths used in East Asian countries, we can clarify not only the formation and development of Japanese “Kagura” but also its fundamental meaning. In this article, the author reported some examples of white cloths that he observed in the Chugoku region and East Asian countries.
