Abstract
In Japan, “seken” are used in the meaning like the world, defined by the ring of the relationship between individuals as the middle belt of the relative and others. Meanwhile,“ society” is a word that means a wide-ranging interpersonal relationship including the total society from a partial society on the assumption of the Western individualism. The present study examined the difference of how to catch the word such as“ seken” and“ society”. As a result of the questionnaire for 39 students, there was no significant difference in extent where the respondents were conscious of “seken” and “society”.However, the number of categories judged to be included at“ seken” was more significantly less than that of it included in “society”. It was judged that “Parents”, “Siblings”, “Lover/Person”, and “Friend in the club” were categories included in“ society” rather than“ seken”. Moreover, the content freely described as“ society” contained a lot of content that meant a place of employment and a social system though it as“ seken” contained a lot of content that meant the reference standard. Finally, it was discussed that awareness of “seken” that were the middle belts of the relative and others promotes social network and prosocial behavior.
