紀要論文

The purpose of this study was to investigate a difference in the nature of generativity \ (Erikson, 1989) between parents and grandparents. The subjects were 690 parents who have at least a toddler as well as 204 grandparents recruited through the parents. The results supported a 3-factor model: creating, offering, and generativity maintaining. Whereas the factor score of “creating” among parents was significantly higher than the score among grandparents, there were no significant differences in other 2 factor scores. Compared to the results of existing studies, the mean scores of grandparents in this study were lower. In \ addition, grandparents in this study were likely to respect parenting styles of their offspring and be aware of their unique role as grandparents. The nature of generativity among both generations was discussed based on the shift of socioeconomic status and family composition.
