We live in environment filled with various information. For solving complex problems in our real world, it is important not only to get explicit information from the outside world, but also to seek and identify appropriate and relevant data from a huge amount of information. So, relevance calculation is the starting point of every cognitive process. Perception, cognition, recognition and thinking are computed based on only relevant information except irrelevant information. Therefore, relevance calculation must be satisfied with the following features: (a) Easy computation, (b) validity, (c) di erence detection as an essential feature of cognition, (d) using manifest and positive information. This paper proposes the valid equation of relevance: P(x→y)= P(y│x)- P(y).
