Abstract

In this study, two cases of curriculum structure at super science high school in Kumamoto prefecture were characterized from three viewpoints, that is, (1) target, such as for excellence, for interested students, or for all, (2) development of school-based subjects with special emphasis on doing science, and (3) interrelationships among science subjects and school-based subjects. The structure of SSH curriculum were then compared with the one of model curriculum that had been drafted by Nakayama (2014) and intended to correlate and integrate between learning of science and doing science. Description of four major characteristics, they were, i) doing science, ii) curriculum for excellence, iii) subject curriculum, and iv) experience curriculum, could be applicable as basic principles in constructing curriculum.
