Abstract

Most previous studies have reported an overshoot phenomenon of wind pressure on a gable roof body under a short-rise-time gust from a calm condition. This paper focused on a gust with an initial steady wind speed and reported the properties of unsteady wind pressures on the body using a gust wind tunnel. As a result, it was confirmed that an overshoot wind pressure coefficient decreased with an initial wind speed, and it was possible to systematically classify the overshoot of wind pressure using several non-dimensional coefficient including a rise-time, wind speed and its acceleration.
