抄録

Although the new Media Studies Major at the Faculty of Sociology, Kansai University, began in 2013, this program can be traced back 65 years to its foundation, when it was originally called the Department of Journalism （and Media） Studies, at the Faculty of Letters, Kansai University, in 1949. A great many changes has occurred since then but might easily be forgotten. In this article, the author describes in detail the prehistory of the Media Studies Major at the Faculty of Sociology, Kansai University.関西大学社会学部マス・コミュニケーション学専攻は2013年からメディア専攻に改称・改編したが、その淵源は1949年の文学部新聞学科設置にあり、以来65年の経緯を持つ。この機会にメディア専攻の前史として専攻の忘れられがちな歴史を専攻に絞ってまとめた。
