本稿では、国文学研究資料館所蔵の真田家文書のうち、「家老日記」として分類される日記類（特に松代に関する日記）を分析対象として、そこに含まれる日記の種類と性格について論じた。 まず、日記の外見的考察により、文政期までの日記の表紙に記されている「松代」「御国」といった記載の多くが後筆であることを確認し、これらの追記や朱字の番号で示されている管理の痕跡が、松代藩や真田家ではなく、家老の望月氏によるものであると推定した。さらに、これらの日記の中には、家老日記とは性格が異なる「御国日記」の原本（あるいは全体の転写本）が混入していること、望月氏自身が御国日記の転写を進めていたことなどを明らかにした。 続いて、望月行広という人物の動向に着目し、家老日記の性格について検討した。その結果､①松代藩における公式の家老日記は、「置附日記」という家老御用部屋に設置された日記であり、真田家文書に残る家老日記は、御用番を担当した家老が「置附日記」の下日記として記したもので、「置附日記｣への転記にあたり記事の取捨選択が行われていたこと、②18世紀半ばには、家老の執務内容のうち定例化・慣習化された事項について日記には記述しないと規定されていたこと、③望月行広が「勝手懸り」を担当してからは、職務上の需要に応じて、自らが御用番のとき以外の日記も詳細に転写するようになり、勝手懸り関係の記述も加わって、1年間を通じた記事を御用番・勝手懸りの2本立てで記す「御在所日記」の形式を完成させたこと、などの点を明らかにした。 This paper discusses the descriptions and characteristics of "KaroNikki"(Diary of chief retainer), the Sanada family's documents of National Institute of Japanese literature. From the contents written on the cover of this diary until Bunsei era, it was confirmed that some descriptions such as "Matsushiro"and "Okuni" were written later. It is presumed that postscripts and running number were written by Mochizuki chief retainer. It was also confirmed that "Okuni Nikki" (Okuni Diary), which was different with "Karo Nikki'', was included and Mochizuki chief retainer was carrying out the transcription of "OkuniNikki". .Subsequently, we focused on the activity of Mochizuki Yukihiro and studied the characteristics of "KaroNikki''. As a result of this study, it was clarified　that　an　official diary of the Matsushiro domain was "Okitsuke Diary" and a diary preserved by Mochizuki family had a function of a rough draft. Originally, "Karo Nikki" was created based on a work shift on monthly bases, but it was also clarified that a file type of diary (Gozaisho Diary) had been begun to create throughout the year in stated of a monthly work shift diary since the middle of 18th century due to the volume of work was increased, the contents were written in more details and the descriptions regarding the financial affairs were added.
