認知症に関する様々な体験談を映像や音声で紹介した「認知症本人と家族介護者の語りWebサイト」の公開1 周年を記念して，「もっと知りたい認知症Q&A ―体験者の声から学ぶ」をテーマとした公開シンポジウムを開催した．このシンポジウムの特徴は，Web サイトにアップロードした認知症本人と家族介護者の語り（ビデオ映像）をメインに位置付け，個々の語りに関した現状の説明をシンポジストが行う，という方式をとったことである．今回，その反響を知るという目的で，終了後のアンケート結果を分析した．　参加者138 名のうち69 名から回答が寄せられた．回答者は医療関係者が22 名と最も多く，次に認知症本人もしくは家族で21 名，教育関係者が8 名という順であった．シンポジウムの全体的印象は，“よかった”と“まあまあよかった”を合わせると97％であった．よかった理由として，当事者の生の声と表情が伝わったという臨場感や，事例に沿った専門家の説明等が多く挙げられていた．以上のことより，ビデオ映像による体験談の提示と，それらを補足説明する方式の効果が推察された．

Abstract: To mark the first anniversary of the launch of the website, “Stories From People With Dementia andTheir Family Caregivers”, a public symposium was held with the theme, “Knowing More About Dementia:Learning From the Experiences of Others”. One feature of the symposium was the use of stories told onvideo from the website. At the end of symposium, the participants were asked to complete a questionnaire sothat we could assess their reactions.We received a total of 69 responses from 138 participants. The largest group of respondents comprisedmedical workers (n=22), followed by people with dementia or their families (n=21), and then educationworkers (n=8). In terms of overall impressions of the symposium, 97% of the responses were either “good” or“reasonably good.” Reasons given for the “good” evaluation included the sense of realism felt by viewing thevideos and hearing the people’s own voices, as well as explanations of real cases by specialists. These resultssuggested that presenting accounts of experiences not only through textual information, but also through theactual expressions and tone of voice of those affected allows others to better understand the experiences ofpeople with dementia and their caregivers.
