This study examines the effects of Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope (PATH) simulation as a seminar for preparing an individualized educational support plan. Since the author introduced PATH to Japan twenty years ago, it has been a useful method for special education teacher training and supporters meeting for realizing the dreams of individuals with disabilities in Japan. The participants were 21 undergraduate and graduate students who attended a seminar on the PATH simulation involving a fictitious role play, wherein individuals pose as a child, parents, or teachers, for the concerned person. The participantsʼ consciousness to the seminar was evaluated by a questionnaire about the usefulness of PATH. This study particularly focused on the questions related to the functions of PATH, such as causing a change in the consciousness of a person with disabilities and encouraging cooperation partnership. It was revealed that the participants evaluated the functions of PATH not only as a useful tool for preparing a support plan but also as causing a change in\\\their consciousness. In addition, the author discusses the significance and limitations of the PATH simulation and suggests points for implementing it.
