Abstract

Kunio Yanagita considered “les traditions popularies" as his main research interest. At the global intellectual framework，including the ABS (Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit Sharing)， there has been increasing pressure to separate the concept of folklore and traditional knowledge. Nihon minzokugaku is not a folklore studies of Jap an. It is necessary to repositioning it as a science of traditional knowledge.
