The philosophy and its applications of Booker T. Washington, have been described as 1) positive contributions to the African-American society through his enthusiastic active support of industrial education, and at the same time, causing 2) negative effects on the Civil Rights Movement by his failures to criticize the Jim Crow system. This study, however, colnclusively examines the general belief that his intentions were betrayed, conserving the racial relations and social systems of the Postbellum South. Washington clearly held complicated strategies to uplift the status of the blacks. In addition, Tuskegeean, his followers, succeeded in empowering the long-suffering Southern black farmers psychologically rather than economically.
