The purpose of this study is to develop a teaching strategy to reconstruct students’ wrong scientific conception of “water is heated up as it swirls”, which is often conceived by many of the students, even after the classrooms lesson using the text book on the topic of “How the water becomes hot”. The teaching method based on this strategy is to show students with the wrong conception, the corroborated scientific understanding by supportive experiments, and let them discuss after making them experience cognitive conflicts between wrong conception and the phenomena that contradicts their ideas. The study proves that this method is more effective to convert wrong conception into scientifically correct conception than the method that the textbook shows.
