This study presents the findings of research examining when and how learners access language learning applications. The results show learners tend to use smartphones at a rate much higher than personal computers or tablets and that this rate is higher than the statistics of electronics ownership would suggest. This supports the data found by Bibby (2011) that learners preferred the portability of mobile phones. In this paper, it is postulated that a learner's device of preference is a function of the context of their primary study habits, including the space and time in which they regularly study. Moreover, these study times can be a product of the learner's country of job, form of transportation, or numerous other factors.
