This paper explores writing strategy (WS) usage for international business. It has been argued that the use of specific WS is essential in negotiations with business counterparts from different culturalbackgrounds. However, there are few guidelines that present authentic goals regarding how to develop such negotiation skills for an English as a foreign language (EFL) learner. The focus is on how valid information about the perception of strategy is presented during business writing can be gathered systematically. The research conducted an open-ended questionnaire study to identify the general perception of strategy for written negotiations (n = 116). The results indicate that writers should use strategies that create courtesy, clarity, conciseness, correctness, and consideration in order to enhance global business.
