Abstract

Tanomura Chikuden (1777-1835), who had connections with present-day Suita City, made his home at Suita Village in his later years, eventually passing away during travel to the city of Osaka. The Nakanshi Residence, located on the Kishibe, Suita City - which once served as the residence of the village headline - is home to numerous materials pertaining to Chikuden. This paper provides an overview of the old possession (Suita city collection) of the Nakanishi Residence in Suita City associated with Chikuden, referencing their value and priority level. The Nakanishi Residence, situated in the former Kishibe-higashi village (present-day Kishibe, Suita City), was the house of the village headman and other key individuals of the Yodo Domain. Known as a regional culture center, it housed numerous art pieces as a stopping point between Osaka and Kyoto. Items in the collection include large numbers of paintings and art works from the Osaka area. To summarize the Nakanishi Residence collection in a word, one could think of it as the epitome of the tea ceremony and of cultured life.
