[抄録] 目的：本研究では，日本の行政保健師が，実践の語りにおいて「地域」をどのように解釈し，意味づけているのかを明らかにすることを目的とした。方法：リーダー的立場，または実践経験10年以上の保健所・市町保健師6名に対して，1回66分のグループインタビューを実施した。インタビューにおける具体的な保健師の実践の語りの中で用いられた「地域」の意味を分析した。結果：保健師が「地域」で表現した意味は，【生活の場】等の地理的範域，【地域で共に生活する人々の集団】等の人々，【同様の健康課題を有するいくつかの集団を含むより大きな集合体】等の保健師活動の対象イメージであった。考察：保健師は「地域」という概念を，地理的範域や人々という意味に加え，保健師実践の対象を示す概念として用いることが明らかになった。保健師実践の対象としての「地域」における，規範的な側面と実体的な側面が明らかになった。

[ABSTRACT] Purpose : To clarify the concept of “community” in public health nursing; specifically, we explored what public health nurses mean by “community” when referring to public health nursing activities. Methods : Six experienced public health nurses, working at municipal and prefectural health centers, participated in focus group interviews. Narrative data about their specific experiences of public health nursing activities were analyzed to understand the meaning of“community,” a term that they used in their narratives. Result : To public health nurses, a“community” represents“a place where individuals live”（ i. e., a geographical area）, “a group of people living together” in said region, and “a larger aggregation of people, including plural groups of individuals with similar health problems”（ i. e., target populations of public health nursing）. Conclusion : The meaning of “community” for public health nurses includes “targets of public health nursing,” as well as the geographic“area” and the“people” living in this area. The concept of “targets of public health nursing” includes two perspectives, moral concepts and substance concepts.
