2014年愛知・名古屋で「国連持続可能な開発のための教育の10年」を取りまとめる世界会議が開催され、社会的な気運が高まっている。そこで本研究では、ユネスコスクールにおけるESD活動の現状を把握し、各学校のユネスコスクールの理念に基づいた展開と充実への今後の支援に向けた方策を検討することを目的とした。その結果、ユネスコスクール担当教員の担当教科について、全国と愛知の教科は概ね一致するが、全国では理科の担当教員が多いのに対し、愛知は社会科が最も多いことが分かった。また、ユネスコスクールに加盟するメリットとしては、全国では「地域の連携が強化されたこと」であり、愛知では「教員の意識向上」が最も多かった。

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) world conference for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) was held in Aichi/Nagoya region in Japan from November 10 to 12, 2014. It has been reflected back on the achievements of “ UN's ESD activities on ten years" and discussed in the strategy since 2014. It is very important to develop ESD for a sustainable society. The purpose of this study is to compare contents of ESD-based UNESCO schools on the Aichi/Nagoya prefecture and other prefectures in Japan using 27 questionnaires in the category 5 contents, such as“ Educational (Learning) Contents," “Educational (Learning) Methods," “Achievements(Evaluation)," “Future Subjects" and “Safety and Health Education" and explore strategies to support the UNESCO schools. Based on the result of this study, it also became clear some issues of incorporating technology education and safety and health education in ESD activities.
