抄録

「性的モノ化」は1970年代以降の第二派フェミニズムの中心的な概念の一つで、性犯罪、セクハラ、売買春、ポルノ1、美人コンテスト、性の商品化など、フェミニズムがとりあげた数多くの「女性」問題において、男性中心的な社会慣行（家父長制）における女性の隷属的地位を説明する概念としていまだに頻繁に用いられており、また哲学的な討議も続けられている(Papadaki, 2015)。この性的モノ化の問題は12年前の拙論「性的モノ化とセックスの倫理学」であつかった(江口, 2006, 本誌第９号)。前回この問題をとりあげたのは、「セックスの哲学」という、当時国内では関心の低かった応用哲学・倫理学の一分野の問題領域と興味深さを示すためであった。しかしその後この「モノ化」の問題はますます哲学者たちの関心をひくと同時に、性の商品化が盛んになっている現代社会で一般の興味をひくようになっているために、再度考察してみたい。Various forms of “sexual objectification” have long been criticized by feminist authors. This essay reconsiders the feminist conceptions of “sexual objectification” and argue that, (1) “objectification” is not always immoral, (2) not only men but also women may sometimes (and often) be objectifying members of the opposite sex, and (3) some forms of objectification, especially self-objectification, sometimes may be beneficial and even empowering. Feminist conceptions of “objectification” have to be reconsidered and reconstructed through empirical studies.
