抄録

The students in the Department of Juvenile Education, Faculty of Modern Life in Teikyo Heisei University are doing school volunteer activities in the elementary schools or kindergarten once a week. A research was made on the effects of their activities in elementary schools of Ichihara city under the cooperation of the Ichihara city board of education. This report shows the results of the research. It tells that their activities could work effectively in three important fields., viz. the study supports, the environmental maintenance and the safety supports of the school children. Especially, in elementary schools, their study supports in the usual class and that for the individual child were effective. Among the freshmen engaging the activities, some restructuring of concepts were seen as follows: their understanding of the teaching job, the awareness of the relation between the studies and activities, and their self evaluation. All students engaging volunteer activities answered that the school volunteer work was significant for them. However, some students answered they could not find the relationship between the studies and actual activities. It seems important that the educational system of the university could be much more associated with these volunteer activities.
