- The influence of Great East Japan Earthquake on Business Risk Management

Abstract
The Great East Japan Earthquake (March 11, 2011) affected business risk management of Japanese firms in various ways. In this study we analyze how Japanese firms react this natural disaster, how their BCP functioned and how they modified their risk management. Firstly we overlook the framework of risk management, secondly we point out how Great East Japan Earthquake affected BCP and supply chain system in Japan, and thirdly we examine the case study of Hitachi group. The conclusion of this study is essence of business risk management of post March 11 lies in risk assessment considering the worst scenario and in cooperation among stakeholders in community surrounding business enterprises.
