Lanthanum silicate oxyapatite (LSO) is known to show high oxide-ion conductivity along to the c-axis. Hence, production of crystal-oriented and thin LSO ceramic is important. In this study, I attempted to produce the crystal-oriented LSO ceramics by an electrophoretic deposition (EPD) in a strong magnetic field. From X-ray diffraction analysis and electrical conductivity measurements, low degree of crystal-oriented layer was formed at the surface of the LSO ceramics produced by the EPD under a strong magnetic field. High conductive ceramics could be obtained by mechanical removal that layer.
