Abstract

The objective of this study was to clarify the categorization and recent development of food industry cluster focusing on the cluster for innovation. Concretely, the following preliminary study was conducted: (1) the concept of cluster is summarized by using previous studies focused on the industrialization of the senary sector or commerce and industry and so on; (2) based on the previous study , we classified the cluster into eight patterns. Based on these results, we investigated the case study in dairy farm and agricultural machinery company focusing on the cluster of research and development/practical application type. Result of the survey indicated that there were two particularly important suggestions/considerations regarding the establishment of the cluster for innovation: By introducing the milking robot system, the side job is possible until about one hundred dairy cows, and a system that considers dairy production flow, such as barn structure and feed feeding.
