Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between an industrial cluster and an innovation. Firstly, in this study, the concept of the industrial cluster is summarized by using the theory of “On Competition” by Porter. Secondly, based on this concept we considered the possibility of the innovation through the formation of industrial clusters. The result indicated that there were two particularly important considerations/suggestions regarding the establishment of the industrial cluster for the innovation. Firstly, it is shown that the stakeholders forming the cluster were diversified, and their relationships were complicated. Secondly, we considered the possibility of creating the innovation in a cluster formation in the IoT era and it was showed that face-to-face communication is important for the innovation. In the future, the introduction of new technologies such as ICT and IoT was considered the possibility of forming a new industrial cluster.
