Abstract

Due to the spreads of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), most Japanese universities introduced online classes in the first half of 2020. In the latter half of the year, universities were required to conduct face-to-face classes while avoiding the "three Cs" (close spaces, crowded places and conversations) by government. Consequently hybrid classes that combined online and face-to-face were introduced. In this paper I will proceed from the stage where we had to conduct online classes, to the stage where we were required to combine online and face-to-face classes, next I will move on to the stage of improving quality of teaching, searching an appropriate combination and implementation method of online and face-to-face classes. Then, I will examine hybrid classes and curriculum, and examine its characteristics, issues, and possibilities. Finally, I will discuss the issues that might arise when the combination of "face-to-face" and "online" is introduced on campus in the future.
