Abstract

The purpose of this research, with the aim of developing a scale for measuring the resilience of teachers in the future, is to examine the resilience factors of elementary school teachers. As a method, a questionnaire survey was conducted for 165 elementary school teachers. Regarding the analysis, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed on 161 subjects who obtained valid responses. As a result, the following points were obtained. 1) The resilience of elementary school teachers is composed of five factors: “sociality,” “support conditions,” “self-control,” “optimism,” and “aspiration.” A model starting from “support conditions” was shown. From this model, it would be essential efforts to increase “self-control” and “desire” in order to efficiently strengthen the “support conditions” subscale related to the collegiality in schools. 2) From the above results, a certain level of internal consistency was confirmed on the 19-item scale consisting of 5 subscales.
