In last two papers we call human beings whose physical and conscious activities such as thinking and memory are all mechanized as “Homo machinalius”. We will discuss the consciousness and ego of “Homo machinalius” in comparison with those of Homo sapiens. The goal of this paper is to clarify the propensity of thinking of Homo sapiens. At present, in addition to our existence as living human beings, we also have the existence of “Self as data”. Existence as data is rarely in line with the person’s intention, and many are irrelevant to the person’s intention. In Homo sapiens society, there is only one “person” in the world as a living thing, which is mortal. Although the person is not the“ Person as data”(“Self as data”), there is an implicit consensus that it is useful mainly for commercial purposes. In this paper, using the concept of“ giving meaning”( in German“ Sinngebung”) in Husserl Phenomenology, using “Self as data” as a starting point for consideration, “Homo machinalius” is an existence that does not need meaning. On the contrary to “Homo machinalius”, Homo sapiens cannot live without meaning. In that sense, I would like to add “Homo significatio” to one of the definitions of Homo sapiens.
