事実の思想史 — ディドロ執筆『百科全書』項目「事実」の分析 —

本稿は経験主義哲学が拡大していく 18 世紀フランスにおいて「事実」というありきたりな言葉にどのようなコノテーションが存在したのかを明らかにすることを目指した。とりわけ、ドゥニ・ディドロが執筆した『百科全書』項目「事実」に焦点を当て、そこで何が賭けられているかを明確にすることで、事実を巡る言説空間を広がりを知ることができた。ディドロの項目「事実」から、我々は 17 世紀から議論されてきた考証学的方法論がある意味無効化される危機的契機をディドロ自身が察知していたことを知ることができた。その危機とは事実が公共的手続きから構成されるものであるという考えからすべてが個人の信念体系へと回収されてしまう、というポスト・トゥルー ス的なものと言えよう。This paper aims to clarify what kind of connotations existed in the common term “fact” in 18th century France, where empiricism strongly influenced on french philosophers. In particular, I focused on the article “Fact” in the Encyclopédie written by Denis Diderot, and by clarifying what was at stake in this article, I was able to understand the expansion of the discourse space surrounding facts. Analyzing Diderot’s article “Fact”, we could see that Diderot himself sensed a crisis that the erudite methodology in the 17th century would be invalidated. This crisis appears to be a post-truth phenomenon in our era, and this means that the facts do not consist of scientific （public） procedures alone, but are based upon individual belief system.
