松戸市矢切ねぎ生産者の農産物高品質化への意欲と生活満足度

This paper quantitatively investigated Japanese leek producersʼ attitudes toward quality enhancement andsatisfaction with life by focussing on Yagiri Negi( Yagiri Leek), a designated local-brand farm product. Yagiri hasbeen a Japanese leek-producing area in Matsudo since the Edo period and thus is one of the traditional agriculturalareas in urban Chiba. Although the leek a very common vegetable in Japan, there have been only a few previousstudies from a farm management perspective on Japanese leek production. Data were collected by an interviewsurvey of producers in the Yagiri area, Matsudo. The estimation results of regression models revealed that amongthose producers, part-time farmers and the younger generation had greater satisfaction with their lives. It was alsoclarified that those producers with a larger farm, a farm successor, regular sales channels, and at least two familylabourers were more positive toward quality enhancement than those who did not.

本稿では,都市農業地域に位置し,江戸時代からのその生産が行われている松戸市の「矢切ねぎ」生産農家を対象にして,経営者の意識と生活満足度についてその要因に関する計量的な分析を行い,考察した.ねぎに関する既往の研究成果は極めて少なく,都市農業としての視点からの分析はなされていない.そこで,聞き取り調査により得たデータを分析した結果から,都市農業における千葉県松戸市矢切地区では,兼業農家で若年世代ほど生活満足度が高くなるということがわかった.また,生産規模が大きく,後継者と得意先を有し,2人以上の安定した労働力のある農家ほど,高品質化に対する意欲の高いことが明らかとなった. この点で,矢切地区のねぎ作農家は,都市農業の条件に合理的な適応をしているといえる.今後は,高齢化への対応や都市住民との交流型の展開など,新たな課題に対する支援策も必要と考える.
