Abstract

本稿は中学生に英文ライティング指導を通して思考力育成を図ろうという取り組みの理論的背景と可能な教材の提示を試みたものである。具体的には以下の点を志向するものである。1)英文ライティングの指導,ことにパラグラフ・ライティングに取り組むことで,英文の特徴である「論証責任」を認識し,きちんとした論証文を書くことができる,2)類種概念を理解し,情報の整理ができる,3)論理関係の基礎を理解し,論理関係を示す語を使うことができる,4)他人や仲間の話や書いた文章に対してクリティカルな判断ができる,5)与えられた情報をクリティカルに判断することができる。

This paper offers some theoretical foundations and possible teaching materials for an attempt to foster junior high school students'ability to think through teaching writing in English. To be specific, the following points are aimed at: 1) the students will understand the construction of an English paragraph and understand the concept of "burden of proof" that is one of the characteristics of English writing, 2) they will understand the relationships between super-ordinate/subordinate concepts and organize various kinds of information accordingly, 3) they will understand the basics of formal logic and be able to use logical connectors properly, 4) they will think critically about the quality and the content of the paper/speech that other people/peers make, and 5) they will be able to judge the information given to them critically.
