Abstract

In this paper, a quantitative analysis is performed using the 2005 and 2015 SSM Survey data to clarify how absolute and relative stratificational position affect general trust. As a result, in absolute stratificational position, when controlled by the effects of relative stratificational position, only educational background had a positive effect of general trust. In relative stratificational position, high and ascending relative economic position had a positive effect on general trust. In addition, it was found out that the ascending of subjective stratificational position mediates the subjective stratificational position and enhances general trust.
