抄録

From the coming-of-age ceremony of the main character to his death, Isemonogatari depicts various events in his life. Many chapters talk about his later years. He was often called the “Okina” and attended prominent banquets. He celebrated the banquet hall with his skillful waka. The Okina visited Fujiwara no Tsuneyuki and Minamoto no Toru’s luxurious palaces and dedicated a celebration waka. Unfortunately, they were both excluded from politics. He often visited their palace, increasing their Miyabi and strengthening their solidarity. On the other hand, he also approached powerful people such as the emperor and ministers. He undermined their dignity with provocative waka. His fearless waka surprised and upset the participants. The presence of his brother, Yukihira, is also important. By the power of the waka, he showed off his Miyabi.
