Abstract

[Abstract] The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between community broadcasting station as a local media and neighborhood association - from community side. A questionnaire survey of neighborhood associations in Wakkanai City will be conducted to determine whether they use the station in times of peace and emergency, as well as their evaluations and expectations of the station. On the other hand, a interview with the station was also conducted to clarify the actual situation and challenges of contingency response.The main findings are as follows. There was cooperation between the station and local governmental agencies during emergencies, and a certain amount of information is obtained from residents. On the other hand, due to the difficulty in communicating information from the residents to the local government, there was a delay/absence of detailed information dissemination from the local government to the residents.
