The seven patients with Crohn's disease underwent strictureplasties (SXPLs) for their small bowel strictures. The mean age of patients (4 males and 3 females) was 32.7 years. The mean postoperative follow-up period was 17.1 months (range from 3 to 34 months). Their clinical patterns at initial operation were ileocolic type in five and ileal type in two. Four patients were accompanied by bowel resection at the time of SXPLs. A total of 30 SXPLs included 22 Heineke-Mikulicz type, 5 Finney type and 3 Jaboulay type SXPLs. All patients had almost good postoperative course with improvement of the symptoms and IOIBD scores but no severe complications. The authors considered that SXPL was safe surgical treatment and should be more frequently indicated as a better surgical option instead of resection.
