Abstract

A 38-year-old man with vesicosigmoidal fistula due to sigmoid colon diverticulitis was referred to our hospital because of a pneumaturia, fecaluria and terminal pain upon urination. A Barium enema revealed multiple diverticula in the sigmoid colon. A vesicosigmoidal fistula was confirmed by 5mm sliced CT-scan with a retrograde infusion of 1% Gastrografin solution into the urinary bladder. A primary partial resection of the sigmoid colon and the urinary bladder wall including the fistula was performed. The patient was discharged on the 34 th postoperative day without any complaint.123 cases of vesicosigmoidal fistula due to sigmoid colon diverticulitis were reported by 1992 in Japan.
