Abstract

The calcifying odontogenic cyst is histopathologically characterized by the appearance of ghost cells and calculous deposits on the epithelial layer of the cyst wall. This lesion is defined as a non-neoplastic lesion by the WHO International Classification of Odontogenic Tumors and Allied Lesions.<BR>Two cases of calcifying odontogenic cyst associated with compound odontoma are presented. In one of these cases, the relationship between the cyst and odontoma is unclear. In the other case, it is suggested that the cyst developed secondarily from the epithelium in the formation of odontoma.
