抄録

This paper makes the process and problem of “socialization” in care for elders clear from a viewpoint of family carers. “Socialization” of care can be considered the way transfers the unpaid work which family performs domestically to paid work of specialist and the way evaluates the labor socially. In advanced welfare states, because of the restructuring of welfare states, the numbers of elders who aren't covered by public service and pushed out to the exterior of a care system are increasing. In Northern Europe, a family care is rediscovered from such a background and the new trend to establish a “family carers support policy” which secures the citizen-right has arisen in response to the needs of people who do family care. The argument on family carers support must be deepened especially in Japan where many middle aged women are forced to quit job to deal with family care solely, where progress of “socialization” is also controlled in spite of enforcement of public nursing care insurance. It also must be deepened from gender and the viewpoint of care balance.
