Ninety-four cases with fractures of the distal radius, attended our hospital between 1982 and 1986, were reviewed. Their ages ranged from 5 to 83 years with the average of 31.8 years Adult's franctures were seen in 48 cases, and children's in 46 cases. Distal fractures were classified by kawashima's classification and Colles's fractures were divided into 3 groups by Gartland's classification. They were treated by fixation with plaster cast after manipulation as a general rule, but some of them were treated by direct traction, external fixation device, percutaneous pinning, or open reduction.<br>This paper presents three interesting cases of comminuted type fractures in adult and the results of prognostic investigation of 14 children's fractures. Clinical results at the last examination were evaluated by the modified Saito's method. In children, the results of all were excellent. Radiologically, in 6 cases, followed up over one year, both dorsal deviation and radial deviation were corrected satisfactorily in comparison with normal side.
