Abstract

We investigated team medicine in emergency medical services by utilizing two distinctive research methodologies: human trajectories and conversation analysis. Our intention was to promote shared medicine within critical medical care and to foster the on-site education of medical students. We collected human trajectory data and conversational data during an actual medical procedure in an emergency room and then analyzed it with an analytical tool we developed that enable us to combine and analyze these different types of data simultaneously. In this paper, we describe the basic configuration of the software we developed and discuss how we applied it to the analysis of actual communication during the medical procedure.
