Abstract

Open source programming language Ruby has attracted attention in information technology industry, which was invented and opened from Japan. The language specification of Ruby was confirmed as an International Standard, ISO/IEC 30170 in 2012. This process will improve the stability and reliability of Ruby, and the expansion of the business use of Ruby is also expected. This paper shows the background why Ruby and Ruby on Rails attract attention, on the strength of Open Source business models. And it also shows the fruits and issues of local industry promotion of Matsue City, using Ruby as a regional resource.
