抄録

The authors already reported that the stand-stem curve can be derived as the polynomial of three degrees from some characteristic values of a stand which are estimated by the plotless sampling method. Then, if we define the stem volume between the ground line and the merchantable height as the merchantable tree volume (υ_m) of this stem curve, the stand merchantable-volume per hectare (V_m) may be obtained by multiplying vm by the number of standing trees per hectare. This report presents a study of whether or not the stand merchantablevolume can be estimated by the simulation method. It was found that it could be estimated with good precision except in some extreme cases.
